Blow the Trumpet

Greetings in the Awesome Name of our God!
As I write this letter today, I do so with two things in mind. First, of course, is that we have begun a new year. And as usual, with every new year comes new trials and new challenges.
The second thing that comes to mind, is found in Joshua 6:20, “So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.”
Again, as we enter this new year, we are definitely entering a year with some obvious challenges and fears. In fact, I’m pretty sure that’s the way the children of Israel must have felt when they circled the walls of Jericho. You see, up until this point, these walls had been deemed unconquerable. And what do we find the Lord telling the people to do. For six days they were “. . . not to shout, make any noise, or allow any word to proceed out of their mouth.” But on the seventh day, after going around the walls seven times, the priests were to blow their trumpets and immediately upon hearing the trumpets the people were to shout.
Well let me encourage, instead of sounding the trumpet of fear and doubt, it’s time to blow the trumpet of Emmanuel and shout to the world, “God is with us.”
As always, may God bless you richly!
