Is Prayer Your Priority?

Greetings in the Wonderful and Mighty Name of Jesus!

In Luke 11:1 we read, “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” Now to me, this verse stands out as a very intriguing verse. I say this for the fact that of all the things the disciples could have asked for, this would probably be one of the last things most believers would think of.

By the way, this statement isn’t something that I just pulled out of the air, statistics actually tell us that the average Christian prays less than one minute a day. In other words, prayer for the most part, is not at the top of most believers list of priorities. And here’s the intriguing part. What was it about Jesus’ prayer life that incited this type of request.

Now for me personally, I believe the answer to this question stems from a variety of things. First, and foremost, was the example of prayer that he lived and demonstrated before them. Secondly, was the effectiveness of His ministry. Let’s be honest, Jesus was always “Johnny on the spot.” The third reason I believe this request was made was because of His teachings. Again, do you remember what he said just prior to commanding Lazarus to come forth? He said, “Father, I thank you for always hearing me. And I know that you always hear me, but because of the people which stand by me I said it, that they may believe that you’ve sent me.” Well let me ask, does your prayer life validate that God has sent you?

As always, may God bless you richly!
